Water then Ice (Unedited Poem)

I signaled my arms to retrieve my thoughts that dispersed in a puddle

I tried for one, and it burned the tips of my fingers.

Confused, I observed before initiating my next move.

I then realized my thoughts materialized into ice to shield itself from the world.

Hoping, praying, to be left alone so that it can successfully complete its life cycle.

It was never meant to be coddled,

 stored ,

or ignored

…. It dreamt of a non-judgmental life.

Flowing through streams and briefly connecting with other beings.

It was then that I actively chose to leave them alone and carry on.
