About The Artist

Jamisha/Jay Montague was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. She graduated from Rutgers-Newark, the State University of New Jersey, in 2022 with her bachelors in African and African American studies and two minors in History and Social Justice. During her senior year of college she received numerous accolades because of her commitment to social justice and her academic success. She was selected out of thousands of students to represent the school of Arts and Science in a video that was played during her commencement ceremony.
What is she up to now?
She is currently creating jewelry and art that brings awareness to the female body and is revamping Muffled Voices, her digital archive where she interviews people with marginalized identities.
