Journal Entry: A Man Was Outside My Window Today
A man was outside my window today,
with a chainsaw, gnawing at the tree that made a home on the lawn.
He showed up unannounced
at the crack of dawn–adding to the chaos that pollutes the air—and he brought his friend…you know, ole boy up the block, the one with the tow truck.
One left with tree branches that’s witnessed the children on the block:
Age into poverty like the rest of their lineage.
Escape and seldom return for holidays.
Fall victim to the streets.
Etc.
And the other left with vehicles.
I’m happy we parked on the other side because the car would’ve been towed…twice…within the span of a week.

I honestly need to implement breathing and movement techniques into my life. My body is tense and harboring stress.
Sometimes we neglect ourselves because life has us twisted around its fingers… wringing every ounce of energy out of us
… or, that’s how it feels.
I find that having a detailed calendar where I can track my success is extremely beneficial and crucial to my success. It helps me track my goals and strategically plan my next move. I also find that extending grace to myself helps me better prioritize myself. Oftentimes I beat myself up for not taking care of myself. I then remind myself that I grew up in conditions where “self” was an afterthought………....
